[report]Joint International Training Course on Ecological and Environmental Research in Taiwan
March 6th-9th, 2018, a joint international training course co-organized by National Dong Hwa University (Taiwan), Hokkaido University (Japan) and the GLP Japan Nodal Office was successfully held in Sugar Lohas, a well-known eco-tourism spot in Hualien, Taiwan.
Fourteen students from 8 different countries and regions received beneficial lectures and technical training on ecosystem science, biodiversity, environmental pollution and land change sciences from various professors and experts of Japan and Taiwan. Divided into 3 groups with different scopes (e.g., water quality survey, gas emission observation, and wildlife trapping method), students enjoyed to get knowledges from every day's lectures and group fieldwork to collect and analyze data with specific research questions for the final presentation.
Although this course was very intense, even exhausting, and the weather was less than preferable, it is still safe to say that in such a short period every attendee has experienced and learned a lot in both theoretical and practical aspects, which will be of great significance in their future career.
